In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, Jeron set out to see what technology they could bring to the front-line workers. They developed their “Isolation Station” for their Provider 790 Nurse Call system. The isolation station was created to help reserve personal protective equipment (PPE) and allow caregivers to minimize potential exposure all while providing adequate care.

The Isolation Station provides direct communication from outside the patient room to an intercom station inside the patient room. With a simple press of a button, the isolation station allows caregivers to do their rounds and talk with patients. The isolation station has a green and red LED light to let the caregiver know if the patient is speaking or if they can speak.

This new station minimizes the amount of times caregivers must use PPE to enter the room which can be greatly beneficial during a shortage. Additionally, with less physical contact between staff and patients also results in lower chances of spreading any airborne viruses.

When it comes to installation, Symtech does not even have to enter the patients’ room! It is added to the hallway utilizing existing components already within the patient room. The station is low profile and can be cleaned with common hospital disinfectants.
